Camera strap

Why are you into it?
A repeat for a reason.
About
The camera strap gets no respect. It ships with every DSLR and mirrorless body as an afterthought, branded with manufacturer logos like a walking billboard. Most photographers use whatever came in the box until the foam padding disintegrates or the fabric frays at the connection points. Then they buy the same thing again.
But the strap does real work. It carries five pounds of glass and metal for hours. It absorbs the shock when you pivot quickly or lean over a railing for the shot. The wrong strap digs into your neck during a wedding reception or cuts circulation during a street photography session in Madrid's El Retiro. The right one disappears entirely, which is the point.
Professional options split into camps. Peak Design makes the modular choice, with quick-release anchors and slides that work across their entire ecosystem. BlackRapid pioneered the sling style that lets the camera hang at your hip instead of bouncing against your chest. Leather traditionalists swear by ONA or handmade options from Etsy artisans who understand that gear becomes part of your process.
Replacement happens for a reason. The original strap failed, or your shooting style changed, or you finally admitted that comfort matters more than saving thirty dollars. A photographer buying their second camera strap isn't being wasteful. They're being honest about what the work actually requires.
Fun fact
Ansel Adams used the same leather camera strap for over twenty years, long enough that it molded perfectly to his shoulder and left a permanent indentation.
